XR-SENSE aims to develop innovative technologies for the next generation of immersive environments by seamlessly integrating visual and tactile information to make Extended Reality (XR) experiences more natural, realistic and inclusive.
The project addresses key limitations of current XR technologies by developing novel approaches for the representation, processing, coding and real-time rendering of dynamic and multisensory scenes. The technologies developed will be integrated and validated through three high-impact demonstrators in the automotive, healthcare and creative industries sectors.

In healthcare, XR-SENSE will contribute to the development of new immersive and collaborative interaction paradigms, with a particular focus on remote surgery applications. The project will also integrate human perception, inclusiveness, and social, ethical and legal considerations, supporting a human-centred approach to the design of XR technologies.

Within the project, Orthokey Italia S.r.l. contributes to research and innovation activities and, through its involvement in the healthcare use case, supports the assessment of the application potential of the technologies developed and the conditions required for their future uptake.

XR-SENSE will also contribute to interoperability and standardisation activities in the XR domain and to the definition of exploitation and sustainability pathways for project results beyond the project lifetime.
